Liberty Counsel’s Founder and Chairman, Mathew D. Staver, received the Faith Community Leader of the Year Award at the Weyrich Awards Dinner in Washington, D.C.

Honoring the legacy of Paul Weyrich, the 15-member awards committee chose Mat Staver based on his "contribution to the cause of liberty and truth" and because he is an "example for all Americans." 

Staver called the award a "great honor," saying that he was "humbled by the recognition in light of the notable achievements and accomplishments of Paul Weyrich."

"Paul Weyrich, along with President Ronald Reagan, Dr. Jerry Falwell, and a few others, was one of my ideological heroes. His faith and commitment to traditional American and Judeo-Christian values and adherence to constitutional principles have always been a great source of inspiration for me," said Staver.
