There are enough certified voter signatures to ensure a spot on the November 2011 ballot for the Personhood Amendment, according to the Mississippi Secretary of State. Personhood Mississippi, a client of Liberty Counsel, worked diligently to gather 130,000 signatures for the 89,285 needed to place the amendment on the ballot.

The amendment reads, "The term 'person' or 'persons' shall include every human being from the moment of fertilization, cloning or the functional equivalent thereof."

Medical science unequivocally establishes the personhood of the child from conception. There have been significant advances in medicine since Roe v. Wade. In vitro fetal surgery is now possible. The most famous photograph depicts "Baby Samuel" grasping the finger of the surgeon as the baby was reinserted into the womb.

Now that this amendment is on the ballot, pray for the educational efforts of Personhood Mississippi so the voters will know why they must vote to protect life.

We stand ready to defend this amendment against all those who would seek to undermine the fundamental right to life for the most innocent among us. We are preparing for legal challenges against the amendment. Please consider donating to our efforts to protect life, liberty and family.
